In my home, for most of the breakfast varieties we have coconut chutney. Even if we have sambar also my family members will ask for coconut chutney. Its like we have addicted to this coconut chutney & too much of coconut is damaging our health.
So I have started replacing coconut chutney slowly... and that's why I cooked brinjal chutney today & recipe is here. Give a try with this recipe & I'm sure you'll like it.

Whenever I replace a healthy snack instead of junk to school, my daughter brings it back untouched. So I ended up sending junk snack with heavy heart all the time. Yesterday chumma I tried this combo for evening snack & it worked great. So I have secretly decided to try this combo with some variation for school snack.
Mint Chutney Sandwich + Papaya + Butter Milk --------> Kid's Snack

Summer is nearby & we started feeling the heat now itself...so i have started preparing for summerrrrrrr.......:-)
The 1st thing we have to do in summer is to keep us cool .....so eat & drink cool, think cool, stay cool & feel cool......this is cool isn't ;)

I always hesitate to cook lady's finger because cooking this sticky vegetable eats my time. Last week when i was talking about this vegetable with Saradha aunty she gave me this quick lady's finger stir fry recipe & it came out very well even with less oil. Many thanks to Saradha aunty. :-)

My dad is very energetic, active, fun loving & self motivated person. He is 16 at heart & 35 in looks but actually he is 65. He always carries that small curve in his lips & loves to see others happy.
No cholesterol, no BP, no diabetic.... Touch wood...but 20 days back he got mild fix & got admitted in hospital for angiogram. Luckily the report came with minimum blocks & now he is under medication.
That one day gave us a great shock. Me, my brother & mom couldn't take it up.....by god's grace...my dad is alright now.
One thing I learnt from this is that, "what you eat is what you will be.....". My dad is a non-veg person. No food without non veg style of living is what my dad had until yesterday but now everything changed towards vegetables, fruits, fibre....etc etc.
Even though its difficult.... Now my dad is ready to compromise anything for his loving wife, kids, grandkids..

Variety Rices are simple yet delicious. You don't need big side dish for these variety rices just chips or papad will do. These variety rices are the best gift/solution for busy working women.
Now a days many variety rice mixes are readily available in stores like Nilgris, Reliance..etc but most of the rices can be prepared in your kitchen in the morning busy hours too.

Even though I'm a non-veg freak, I have started cooking & eating lot of vegetable just for the sake of my daughter. My daughter is mini me. She just like all that I like including food. Since eating vegetables & fruits daily is a must for current life style I have started using lots of veggies & fruits in my daily cooking. That's why lots of veggie recipes in my blog in recent times.

Just to make Sunday special I thought of making dessert yesterday. More votes were given for kulfi icecream. Yes my daughter raised both her hands when asked who wants kulfi :-)
....after voting only I found no condensed milk in my fridge...but still went ahead & made kulfis without condensed milk and it tasted as great as the condensed milk version.

The recipes "Drumsticks Gravy & Drumsticks Soup" are inter related.....don't know how??
Simple...whenever you make drumsticks gravy you can retain the juice of it and make drumsticks soup OR whenever you make drumsticks soup you can retain the drumsticks and make gravy out of it......ha ha......sorry i could hear you grumbling...:-) :-)

Drumstick Soup is very easy to make. I don't generally prepare separately for making drumstick soup. Whenever I make drumstick sambar or spicy drumstick curry I cook more drumsticks & retain the drumstick water/juice to make instant drumstick soup.
Below comes the recipe of yummy hot drumstick soup. :-)
Foods served in a simple way is not at all attracting kids now-a-days. So it becomes must for moms to discover new ways to make them eat their food. I think this is one of the main reason why moms are becoming very smarter now a days. Kids keeps us very active physically and mentally. :-)
Below mentioned recipe is one of my ways of attacking my daughter with fruits...esp grapes..ha ha.....

" The best way to prevent cancer is to take atleast a cup of fruits & vegetables daily" - I read this somewhere in the net. Its very true that fruits & vegetables plays major role in preventing threatening diseases. And the best time to eat fruits is before food & best way is to eat it as a fruit.
So make sure that you & your family takes enough fruits & vegetables daily.
The below mentioned method of making salad, works well to make my daughter eat fruits so I follow this. Do follow this style & give a try with your kid too & become a happy mommy. :-)

Frankly speaking I'm still not well but with severe cold & light fever I made these muffins for Priya's "Cooking with seeds" event, "Cooking with love - spouse" & for all other the events taking place this month.
Toooo...much nah....I know but couldn't sit/sleep quite all day knowing all my fellow foodie bloggers out there are making something beautiful, delicious & yummy for the events. :-)

Climatic change currently in Chennai is very bad. Most of kids in my neighbourhood including my daughter is sick. My daughter happily shared her cold & fever with me. So I'm also sick for past two days. That's the reason why there is no much cooking & update in my blog. Just rasam rice & yam fry only in menu today. :(
