Mixture/Chivda is a south indian savory snack which is made by mixing sev, variety of nuts & spices. My daughter is very fond of mixture so my hubby bought 1/2 kg last week only for her but as a responsible mom....(he he...... at times the devil/angel inside me don't jus allow me to give the shop bought oil snacks to my her).....I wanted her to eat something healthy or homemade so I mixed all vegetables with the mixture and made this salad. It is tasted like bhel puri and she loved it.

Broccoli has lots of health benefits but making the kids to eat broccoli is really a mountain climbing task.
Once i tried adding broccoli in maggi noodles but didnt work. Same with sandwich also. Since my l'il one loves fritters/bajji items I tried this broccoli bajjis and believe me she finished all the bajjis within 5 mins. Then I made onion bajji for rest of us...:-)

When I was small, to grow my hair my mom & dad together use to make coconut oil at home specially for my hair. And my grandma used to send selected coconut for making oil at home through whoever comes from my native. It was my whole family who took much efforts to grow my hair.

As i said in my earlier post, my daughter is not a fussy eater. But she hates rotis. So I have been trying different methods to make her eat/like rotis. And this is also one of my method to make her eat roti.
Because of the chicken filling she liked it very much & have asked me to make the same roll for her lunch one day.....see how it works...just give a try like me with your kids too.....:-)

I use to make vermicelli upma a lot because its a easy to make breakfast in the running morning. I was hesitating to try ragi vermicelli upma thinking that nobody in my family would like it. But last week I just bought 1 pkd to give a try and everybody including my l'il one liked it very much.
Since its made of wheat + Ragi flour I happily went to the shop Immediately & got 10 pkds.....ha ha......

Green Peas Masala is my favorite dosa side dish. Actually my mother - in-law use to make this very well. I just learned the perfect version from her & tried this week. It came out exactly like hers but my daughter liked only my version and she told her aachi( grand ma) also that but the way she told was very funny. So her aachi laughed & chased her for the whole day....:-)

Whenever I give surprise to my daughter by packing chicken fried rice for her lunch, I get lots n lots of hugs & kisses in the evening. My sweety pie's expression with the answer to the question 'how's it baby? ' would be like amazing.....for that I would love to make chicken fried rice all 365 days.....:-)

Blogadda has come up with a wonderful healthy, tasty recipe contest with fortune rice bran oil. We need to post our signature recipes in our blog & link blogadda.
Generally I don't cook for my blog...I blog what I cook so thought of posting my breakfast recipes as my signature recipes. But the only difference is I cooked all my breakfast recipes today with " Fortune Rice Bran Oil" and I have to tell this truth that this oil is really amazing. It is very light & absorbs no oil at all. Since the elders ( parents - in-law) at my home are diabetic we have decided to buy Fortune Rice Bran Oil from now on.

Summer has started already......and as a sign you could feel the scorching hot in the morning itself....and you could also see the watermelons, tender coconuts, baby cucumbers everywhere....
It is must to keep your body cool during summer. And best is to consume lots & lots of fruits & vegetables.
Baby cucumber is a simple yet wonderful vegetable which keeps the body very cool. And pomegranate fruit has lot of benefits in it. So I have prepared a simple salad combining these 2.

My daughter is not a fussy eater. But she fights daily with me to eat one particular food...and that is chapati/roti. She hates rotis. So I have been trying different methods to make her eat/like rotis.
Paneer masala roll is one of the method I tried and fortunately it worked for me. If you're kid also fighting with you like mine......then please take this recipe.

I'm a big fan of mint leaves & you would have known that by now because all my recipes mostly has the mint leave's final touch :-)
I have already posted "mint chutney - which can be stored for 15 days" recipe here but this version of mint chutney is like usual chutney which has to be used immediately.

Yesterday night, my daughter asked me to make lemon rice & egg masala for her school today. I was so surprised how she came up with this combination yet very happy and packed her, her request.:-) Maybe she would have got the combo from her friends lunch box.
When I was a kid I know my menu only when I open my lunch box during the lunch time to have the lunch but now a days kids are very smart and they give us the menu list for their lunch box what a generation nah.....:-)

In my home, for most of the breakfast varieties we have coconut chutney. Even if we have sambar also my family members will ask for coconut chutney. Its like we have addicted to this coconut chutney & too much of coconut is damaging our health.
So I have started replacing coconut chutney slowly... and that's why I cooked brinjal chutney today & recipe is here. Give a try with this recipe & I'm sure you'll like it.

Whenever I replace a healthy snack instead of junk to school, my daughter brings it back untouched. So I ended up sending junk snack with heavy heart all the time. Yesterday chumma I tried this combo for evening snack & it worked great. So I have secretly decided to try this combo with some variation for school snack.

I always hesitate to cook lady's finger because cooking this sticky vegetable eats my time. Last week when i was talking about this vegetable with Saradha aunty she gave me this quick lady's finger stir fry recipe & it came out very well even with less oil. Many thanks to Saradha aunty. :-)

My dad is very energetic, active, fun loving & self motivated person. He is 16 at heart & 35 in looks but actually he is 65. He always carries that small curve in his lips & loves to see others happy.
No cholesterol, no BP, no diabetic.... Touch wood...but 20 days back he got mild fix & got admitted in hospital for angiogram. Luckily the report came with minimum blocks & now he is under medication.
That one day gave us a great shock. Me, my brother & mom couldn't take it up.....by god's grace...my dad is alright now.
One thing I learnt from this is that, "what you eat is what you will be.....". My dad is a non-veg person. No food without non veg style of living is what my dad had until yesterday but now everything changed towards vegetables, fruits, fibre....etc etc.
Even though its difficult.... Now my dad is ready to compromise anything for his loving wife, kids, grandkids..
Thanks Dad & we love u so much.....:-)

Even though I'm a non-veg freak, I have started cooking & eating lot of vegetable just for the sake of my daughter. My daughter is mini me. She just like all that I like including food. Since eating vegetables & fruits daily is a must for current life style I have started using lots of veggies & fruits in my daily cooking. Just to make Sunday special I thought of making dessert yesterday. More votes were given for kulfi icecream. Yes my daughter raised both her hands when asked who wants kulfi :-)
....after voting only I found no condensed milk in my fridge...but still went ahead & made kulfis without condensed milk and it tasted as great as the condensed milk version.

The recipes "Drumsticks Gravy & Drumsticks Soup" are inter related.....don't know how??
Simple...whenever you make drumsticks gravy you can retain the juice of it and make drumsticks soup OR whenever you make drumsticks soup you can retain the drumsticks and make gravy out of it......ha ha......sorry i could hear you grumbling...:-) :-)

Drumstick Soup is very easy to make. I don't generally prepare separately for making drumstick soup. Whenever I make drumstick sambar or spicy drumstick curry I cook more drumsticks & retain the drumstick water/juice to make instant drumstick soup.
Below comes the recipe of yummy hot drumstick soup. :-)
Foods served in a simple way is not at all attracting kids now-a-days. So it becomes must for moms to discover new ways to make them eat their food. I think this is one of the main reason why moms are becoming very smarter now a days. Kids keeps us very active physically and mentally. :-)

" The best way to prevent cancer is to take atleast a cup of fruits & vegetables daily" - I read this somewhere in the net. Its very true that fruits & vegetables plays major role in preventing threatening diseases. And the best time to eat fruits is before food & best way is to eat it as a fruit.
So make sure that you & your family takes enough fruits & vegetables daily.
The below mentioned method of making salad, works well to make my daughter eat fruits so I follow this. Do follow this style & give a try with your kid too & become a happy mommy. :-)

Frankly speaking I'm still not well but with severe cold & light fever I made these muffins for Priya's "Cooking with seeds" event, "Cooking with love - spouse" & for all other the events taking place this month.
Toooo...much nah....I know but couldn't sit/sleep quite all day knowing all my fellow foodie bloggers out there are making something beautiful, delicious & yummy for the events. :-)

Climatic change currently in Chennai is very bad. Most of kids in my neighbourhood including my daughter is sick. My daughter happily shared her cold & fever with me. So I'm also sick for past two days. That's the reason why there is no much cooking & update in my blog. Just rasam rice & yam fry only in menu today. :(
